Railcar Bridge and Gate
A salvaged railcar was used as the support structure for this bridge. All other elements are hand-forged weatherproof steel. Castro Valley Creek Daylighting Project, Castro Valley Library, CA.

Cantilevered Bench
Outdoor seating for Castro Valley Creek Daylighting Project. Three of these benches are installed along the creek next to Castro Valley's new library. Each bench is oriented for an optimal view of the creek; a good place to look, listen, or read. They are ADA compliant and very comfortable.

Railcar Bridge, detail
Top and bottom guardrail bars are forged to receive the posts.
-
When they cross each other, the posts are heated and hammered together leaving notches like these. Several posts were installed like this to show the notching that is otherwise more hidden.
